Show was at the end of a long leg of tour. We did Good Morning the day before which followed a red eye from California. Everyone was running on empty - crazy what comes from that kind of energy. Was a defining moment for me.

Barely awake on this one - just enough energy to shave in the morning. Killer band on this cut - Daniel Dey Los Rayos on percussion and Mary Griffith on backing/solo vox.

About
DeLise’s credit’s as writer / producer / guitarist include the 11 week, Billboard #1, “The Gospel According to Patti Labelle,” with the track “You Are My Friend”, the Billboard #5 debut of Labelle‘s, “Timeless Journey” with DeLise capturing one of the albums singles, “2 Steps Away”, which grew to be Labelle’s biggest hit on iTunes to date. “2 Steps Away” which Jon also co-produced with Grammy nominated producer/engineer David Ivory, was also re released on “The Care For Haiti” compilation in the company of artist such as Natasha Beddingfield and Wycleaf Jean. “2 Steps Away” also crossed over into the television market airing on the Fox show, “So You Think You Can Dance” on 3 different seasons - 2 in the US and one season on the European version of the show. Earlier in Jon’s career, at the age of 19, he was writer, played guitar, and piano on the Drive Thru Records release for the band The Starting Line on the album, “The Early Years - The We The People Sessions” with his song “Hold On” also known for it’s underground internet success as “The Piano Song.”
It’s been a decade of touring as featured guitarist/writer with legendary Grammy nominated RnB artist Patti Labelle, including performances at venues such as Radio City, Carnegie Hall, Good Morning America, Live Aid and for President Obama and Vice President Biden at the nation‘s September 11, ten year memorial where his song “2 Steps Away“ was performed, to name a few.

Jon DeLise Back Again Passionate vocals and acoustic guitar characterize this match up of singer/songwriter with full band sound. Two things separate Jon DeLise and Tragedy Fails from the multitude of other would be singer/songwriters in the Philadelphia area; a fresh sound that includes a string section and some serious backing credentials. DeLise was chosen by Patti Labelle to be featured on her Timeless Journey album; the legend then invited him to accompany her on tour, which ended in Philadelphia at the 2006 Freedom Concert. You know — that huge deal with Elton John last summer on the parkway. DeLise has also found a niche among the pop punk princesses by making nice with the Starting Line, who helped to make his song Hold On popular among their fans. Back Again recalls famous ’90s acoustic alt rockers such as Tonic and Vertical Horizon. The song is filled with tension, which is heightened by the presence of Russian cellist Sachino Tsinadze. Tragedy Fails is DeLise’s more than competent backing band, and is made up of Brian Black on background vocals and guitar, Pablo Batista on percussion, Mike Steel on bass, and Jim DeLise on drums.
